Did you know?
Every person has a God-given conscience that acts as a lamp to light the darkness in our souls. Thus, we are really unable to hide from ourselves. That conscience you and I have has a twofold purpose,

(1) to receive light and illumination from God’s Holy Word, and

(2) to sit as a judge and umpire of our actions, thoughts, feelings, and desires, condemning some and giving approval to others.

The conscience enables us to see our actual condition if it is not darkened by neglect and sin, something we should guard against.

—- refer to Proverbs 20:27
