Why do good men retreat and hide when crooks and wicked persons take control of a town or a national government? Power in the wrong hands becomes tyranny. Corrupted justice, unenforceable God-given rights, and suffering spread everywhere under the government’s heavy hand. Wise and good men withdraw into obscurity in hidden and mysterious places, like an underground bunker or their homes. They are searched for to be publically shamed and punished as examples, as the wicked rulers consider them with great suspicion, hatred, and unreasonable fear. The trying of a person’s character and soul occurs. Undoubtedly, differences among good folks show which of us have God’s approval and those which do not.

Demagogue Definition:
A political leader in a democracy who gains popularity by arousing the ordinary people against elitists. They whip up the passions of crowds, appeal to emotions by scapegoating out-groups, exaggerate dangers to stroke fears, lie for an emotional effect to drown out any reasoned deliberation, and instead encourage zealous popularity.

“Out-group” is a group that is distinct from one’s group and so usually an object of hostility or dislike (i.e., conservatives vs. liberals).
